Russia listed Taiwan as a “hostile country”

On 20/09, the Russia government released a list of countries and regions whose values are hostile to Russia, and Taiwan was included. The Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said today (22/09) that Taiwan and like-minded countries condemn Russia’s aggression and will continue to work with peace-loving democratic partners to support Ukraine’s resistance to authoritarianism and aggression.

According to the federal government order, signed by Russia Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on the 17/09 and issued on the 20/09, these 47 countries and regions have adopted policies to forcibly promote “destructive neoliberal ideologies that violate Russia’s traditional spiritual and moral values.”

Among the Asian countries, Japan, Korea and Singapore are also listed. Taiwan is marked on the list as “Тайвань (Китай)”, which means “Taiwan (China)”; Only Hungary and Slovakia are EU members, and only Turkey is not named among NATO members.

In response, the Taiwan’s MOFA responded in the evening that it has been nearly three years since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, which has seriously endangered regional and global stability and security, and Taiwan and like-minded countries condemn Russia’s aggression and will continue to work with peace-loving democratic partners to support Ukraine’s resistance to authoritarianism and aggression.
