The MAC persuaded China to face the reality of Taiwan strait and Taiwanese public opinion

The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) said on 30/09 evening that in response to the CCP leader’s claim that Taiwan is China’s sacred territory and reaffirmed his adherence to the “one-China principle” and the “consensus of ’92” at a reception marking the 75 th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the MAC stressed that the Republic of China is a sovereign country and Taiwan has never been a part of the People’s Republic of China.

The CCP regards the so-called “one-China principle” and “consensus of ’92” as the political premise for cross-strait interaction, and there is no room for the Republic of China to survive, and it has long been firmly rejected by the mainstream public opinion in Taiwan.

The MAC pointed out that President Lai’s inaugural speech has made it clear that the “four insistences” should be continued, that neither humility nor arrogance should be maintained, that the status quo should be maintained, and that the pursuit of peace, mutual benefit, coexistence and common prosperity in the Taiwan Strait should be pursued as the common goal.

The MAC called on the CCP authorities to squarely face the reality that the two sides of the strait are not subordinate to each other, rationally face the mainstream public opinion in Taiwan, engage in pragmatic dialogue with the democratically elected government of Taiwan, promote a positive cycle through accumulation and stacking of goodwill, and create favorable conditions for the benign development of cross-strait relations.
