Washington, DC — HFX, the Washington, DC-based organizer of the annual Halifax International Security Forum, is proud to announce it will host a pivotal, ground breaking two-day meeting in Taipei, Taiwan, February 20-21, 2025.
The HFX Taipei conference will unite political and intellectual leaders from democracies worldwide to strategize on responding to escalating global threats, said HFX president Peter van Praagh.
“Taiwan’s vibrant democracy faces unique security challenges and this session will foster a constructive two-way dialogue as international leaders gain insights into Taiwan’s specific security challenges,” said Van Praagh.
The meeting coincides with the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and one month after the United States inaugurates its president. The timing aligns with a political recess in the US, facilitating attendance by American legislators.
The HFX meeting design, known for cultivating enduring professional and personal connections at the Halifax International Security Forum, will be replicated in Taipei. Participants will enjoy Taipei’s hospitality with an evening featuring local cuisine and a scenic 5K run is being planned for the following morning.
The agenda includes plenary on-the-record sessions and smaller, off-the-record conversations for candid exchanges.
HFX will leverage its global network of security practitioners from every continent to ensure that the meeting contributes meaningfully to Taiwan’s future security.
