Former President Tsai Ing-wen is scheduled to leave for Lithuania on Friday, where she plans to meet with former Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė and engage in discussions aimed at strengthening diplomatic relations. Following her visit to Lithuania, Tsai will travel to Copenhagen to participate in the Democracy Summit organized by the Alliance of Democracies.

Tsai’s office spokesperson, Tsai Shu-ching, stated that the former president is eager to enhance ties with democratic nations across Europe and promote a better understanding of Taiwan’s values and aspirations. In Lithuania, Tsai is also scheduled to deliver a speech at Vilnius University and hold talks with Grybauskaitė.

Lithuania represents a key partner to Taiwan, sharing core principles such as democracy, freedom, and human rights, Tsai Shu-ching emphasized. She added that Tsai Ing-wen aims to collaborate closely with Lithuania to bolster their democratic institutions and economic resilience.

After her visit to Lithuania, Tsai will attend the Copenhagen Democracy Summit, which is set to take place next Tuesday and Wednesday. During the summit, she will speak about Taiwan’s ongoing efforts to forge partnerships with democratic allies and to promote regional stability and peace. She will also express gratitude to the summit organizers for their continued support of Taiwan over the years.

The summit will feature participation from global leaders representing democratic countries, as well as experts, think tanks, civil society groups, and activists from Hong Kong, according to Tsai Shu-ching.
