China recently launched the “Joint Sword-2024B” military exercise against Taiwan, and the Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs(MOFA) said today (19th,Oct) that including friendly countries, as well as United States, the European Union, Japan, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Lithuania, Korea and other more than 30 administrative departments or parliamentarians, have publicly expressed concern about this intimidating act, or stressed the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, urged China to exercise restraint, and disagreements should be resolved through dialogue, rather than the use of force or coercion.
The Taiwan’s MOFA reiterated that maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait is in the common interests of the two sides of the Taiwan Strait and the international community, and that the current high level of consensus of the international community is also to maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and the Indo-Pacific region.
The Taiwan’s MOFA once again calls on China to face up to the fact of the existence of the Republic of China, respect the Taiwan people’s choice of a democratic and free way of life, and our goodwill to participate in cooperation with China in the international community, safeguard regional security and pursue peace and common prosperity, and refrain from vainly trying to threaten and suppress Taiwan and undermine the regional status quo by military provocation or other means, so as to contribute to the healthy development of bilateral relations and meet the expectations of the international community.
The Taiwan’s MOFA also reiterated its call on all countries to continue to pay attention to the situation in the Taiwan Strait and support Taiwan, and Taiwan will continue to work with friends and like-minded partners to defend the rules-based international order and jointly promote regional peace, stability and prosperity.
中國最近對台灣進行了「聯合利劍-2024B」軍演，外交部於今天（19日）表示，包括友邦在內的美國、歐盟、日本、英國、法國、德國、澳洲、紐西蘭、立陶宛、韓國等30多個國家的政府官員或國會議員，對此威脅行為表達了關切，並強調維護台海和平穩定的重要性，呼籲中國保持克制，並通過對話解決分歧，而非依賴武力或威脅。外交部對此表示衷心感謝。
外交部重申，維護台海的和平與穩定符合兩岸及國際社會的共同利益，這也是當前國際社會的高度共識，對於維持台海及印太地區的和平穩定至關重要。外交部再次呼籲中國正視中華民國的存在，尊重台灣人民選擇民主自由生活方式的權利，並表達我方願意與中國在國際合作中共同維護區域安全，追求和平共榮的善意。希望中國不要再以軍事挑釁或其他方式威脅台灣，破壞區域現狀，這樣才能促進雙方關係的良性發展，符合國際社會的期待。
外交部還再次呼籲各國持續關注台海局勢，支持台灣。我國將繼續與友邦及理念相近的夥伴合作，捍衛以規則為基礎的國際秩序，共同促進區域的和平、穩定與繁榮。
